Becoming a Doctor of Pharmacy who's leading the medical care of 21st century

The Graduate School of Pharmaceutical Sciences widely seeks the following persons who understand the founding spirit of "human formation through academics"and agree with the educational philosophy of "personal formation as human beings living in the international community". A pharmacist qualification is not always required for admission. The Graduate School also accepts the following persons including those who possess solid and basic abilities in areas not only found in conventional pharmacy.

  1. Those persons who have academic ability equivalent to the completion of a 6-year pharmacy or graduate school master's course, and those who can take the initiative to deepen and improve their specialized knowledge and skills.
  2. Those persons who have a strong quest and curiosity for medical pharmacy and can find value in contributing to the development of society through problem solving.
  3. Those persons who can become leaders even in a society with different values, and find value in growing and living together.

    Acquisition of clinical expertise and skills

    Acquire comprehensive clinical skills through regional cooperation The JIU clinical pharmacist training program consists of the first and second semester training.In the second semester training, team medical specialization courses and regional medical specialization courses are prepared, and students will acquire practical skills that meet the needs of learners.

    Fostering humanity education that contributes to regional and international collaboration

    order for team medical care and pharmaceutical division of labor to take root effectively, it is essential to build a human network of people who make up groups and regions. Through the practice of team-based learning in the form of fieldwork and workshops, students will acquire the human power and ability required for the practice of multidisciplinary collaboration, team medical care, and the management power within the group

    Acquire expertise in the field of drug epidemiology and drug evaluation sciences

    As represented by the so-called"drug lag", where there is a bottleneck in drug development that takes too much time and cost from new drug development to approval. Clinical trials: There is a need for human resources who can play an active role with expertise in drug epidemiology, drug evaluation sciences in conducting clinical trials, applying for drugs to regulatory agencies, and in harmonization with other countries.

    Future prospects for graduands

    1. Pharmacist Practitioners

    Amid the advocacy of the collapse of community medicine, the aim is to train pharmacists who can be coordinators among multiple occupations such as health and medical care and welfare. Graduands will contribute to the treatment, disease prevention, health maintenance of local residents by accurately grasping the problems of community medicine, formulating solutions related to drug treatment, implementing and evaluating them.

    2. Clinical Scientists

    Graduands will study the risks and benefits of medicines from various angles and contribute to the dissemination and enlightenment of their proper use by local residents. From a scientific point of view, graduands will contribute to the improvement of health literacy of the local residents, thus, enhancing their profession as comprehensive pharmacists.

    3. Pharmaceutical Scientists

    Graduands will possess a high degree of specialization in each research field such as drug efficacy / safety, medical pharmaceutics, infection defense, food function, time pharmacology, natural medicine, promotion of health care through research activities, contribute to the maintenance and promotion of health of community health.

    4. Pharmaceutical Regulatory Scientists

    Regulatory science is the science that coordinates the progress of science and technology in the most desirable harmonious way with humans. This area will contribute to the development of regulatory science, such as collecting scientific evidence for utilizing pharmaceutical and medical devices, formulating development strategies, and lodging recommendations to regulatory agencies.
