The Special Course in Japanese Culture uses understanding of the Japanese language and Japanese culture as the axis for doing comparative studies with various cultures of other countries, with a curriculum consisting of a beginning level course in Japanese language, and a course in Japanese culture. The objective is to boost understanding of the culture and language of Japan. Furthermore, small class sizes encourage discussion in Japanese and ensures good guidance for report preparation, etc. The objective is to pass the Japanese language skills test at Level 1.
The Special Course in the Japanese Language incorporates a curriculum aimed at exchange students who intend to advance into regular Japanese university courses, providing basic Japanese language skills sufficient for attending department or graduate school classes. Intensive use of Japanese language in class discussions are intended to improve Japanese language skills, with the objective of passing the Japanese language skills test at Level 2 or higher.

This course was established to develop human resources with a foundation of knowledge and skills in "business and information" as well as an advanced Japanese language capability.
