All-English BA 4 Years Program学生メッセージ
Jack McKinnon (USA)
I am currently a junior attending Josai International University. JIU has provided me with many opportunities to excel and through the school’s many courses and programs I have been able to gain real English teaching experience at a Japanese elementary school. Also, as the head of my seminar class, I have learned the do’s and don’ts of leadership and have put them into practice during the school’s annual Culture Festival. Another great perk of being at JIU is its truly international environment. After 3 years I have amassed friendships with people from countries all over the world (China, Taiwan, Korea, the Philippines, Canada, Guatemala, England, Spain, Norway, Russia, Ukraine, and Mongolia). Another experience I will remember and cherish was an Internship to Kumamoto in Kyushu. I got to see another side of Japan with my Japanese peers and really felt like one of the group.
During my first year, the language was a bit of a challenge, but with the help of my teachers and friends I was able to pass level 2 of the Japanese Literacy Proficiency Test, and I am striving for level 1 this summer.
I am not completely sure where the future will take me, but one thing I do know is that attending JIU has broadened my horizons and shown me the path to success in an increasingly globalizing world.

2009年の9月に城西国際大学に編入学してから、人生が劇的に変わりました。この10カ月余りの間にTOEICのスコアは800点を超え、マイクロソフトの資格も取りました。大学に入る前の自分には考えられないことが毎日起こっています。主婦だった自分の常識と大学の常識は違います。年齢など全く関係なく、学生は学生です。城西国際大学の先生方は国際色豊かで、国際社会の経験も豊富です。毎日の授業で新しい知識が増えていくのは大きな喜びです。英語で世界の地理や歴史、文学、国際関係学など、国際理解のために必要な科目を学ぶので、自分の英語がどんどん上達していくのがわかります。ただ単に英語を学ぶのではなく、英語で学ぶことによって、知識に裏打ちされた授業を受けられ、毎日充実した学生生活をおくっています。様々な国からの留学生が多く、学内はまるで外国の大学のようです。先日は自宅にアメリカからの留学生をホームステイで受け入れ、楽しい週末を過ごしました。大学で学びなおしをしたいと考えている人にも強くお薦めします。
