Multi-course media studies for the digital age
Introducing the Faculty of Media Studies
Diverse forms of media link people together in a way that helps eliminate boundaries. The Josai International University Faculty of Media Studies offers studies in various advanced media areas. Students can learn the perfect blend of technical and practical skills, creating new paths while developing in a way that will allow them to discover a whole new mode of expression. This is simply the start line for media creators as our curriculum prepares the next generation for the flexibility and adaptability needed to take advantage of the vast possibilities our digital media age presents.
Curriculum and courses in media studies
Students have two courses to choose from after taking core subjects in media studies: Film and Performing Arts and Cross Media.
Film and Performing Arts
The course in Film and Performing Arts focuses on preparing students for the film and entertainment industry through traditional, creative and innovative means, along with providing them with the technological background required for the digital age.
The curriculum offers courses in "Production", "Technology", "Art", and "Entertainment" and provides students with the skills required to keep ahead of the needs of the entertainment field while building comprehensive understanding of the industry as a whole. By fusing the hands-on methods used by the Nikkatsu Film Studio, and the more disciplined moves of the avex Dance Master, students gain a firm understanding of the current demands of the media business. The course offers eight specialist subjects giving students the option of focusing on one subject area or combining several fields of study.
Cross Media
The course in Cross Media offers a technical and practical curriculum in four media disciplines, "Information Technology", "Design", "Video & Television", and "Sound". Students may merge these media areas to develop a single platform to uncover new possibilities of expression that reflect the digital media century. In Cross Media students can experience expression through advanced media tools, the fun of solving problems, and discover new values through the integration of various media forms.
