Josai International University Incorporated Educational Institution Josai University, was founded in 1965. The founding principle of its founder, Mizuta Mikio, was "character development through learning." Born here in Chiba Prefecture, Mizuta Mikio, who worked as a politician to rebuild the country during the chaotic post-war period, was convinced that it is ultimately people who support the nation, and he sought to cultivate individuals who could think for themselves, make sound judgments, and fulfill their responsibilities in society. Inheriting this spirit, the educational philosophy of Mizuta Seiko, the founder of Josai International University, which opened in 1992, is "character development as a person living in the international community." Learning together with people from different backgrounds, respecting others, and finding one's own role—this is the origin of this university.
These two principles and ideals represent universal strengths necessary for human beings to live, no matter how much times change. The ability to think for oneself, the ability to understand others, and the will to contribute to society—these are certainly present in the daily learning journey you will embark on. University is not a place where fully formed individuals gather. It is a place where you encounter others, think, waver, and sometimes pause to find your own path. Supporting that journey is always one question: Why do we learn? What is important? How do I want to live?—You don't need to find the answers immediately. Continuing to ask questions is the starting point of learning.
Our university, known as "JIU" (an acronym for JOSAI INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY), has always been committed to opening up academic pursuits to society and the world. Our vision is to be "connected" university with the world, the community, and the future. This is not merely a slogan, but a phrase that truly represents our approach to learning.
Chiba The Togane campus offers learning that deals with people's lives in the local community, while the Tokyo Kioicho campus offers learning that broadens one's perspective while being in touch with the social trends in the city center. Furthermore, as a comprehensive university, our university has the advantage of being a place where learning to understand people and society, and learning to support human health and life, are all within the same university. This is why we are able to nurture the ability to think not only from one angle, but from multiple perspectives. Many of our graduates who studied here are active in various parts of society with their own specialties and missions in various parts of the world.
We will continue to move forward as a "school of learning that nurtures human beings.
