United Nations Academic Impact International Initiatives

On November 15, 2019, Josai International University joined the United Nations Academic Impact (UNAI), which includes more than 1,400 institutions in more than 130 countries around the world. UNAI is a partnership between the United Nations and universities (institutions of higher education) around the world that sets out ten universal principles in the areas of "human rights, literacy, sustainability and conflict resolution". Activities to actively support these activities are required.

The 10 Principles of the United Nations Academic Impact

Principle 1: Promote and achieve the principles of the United Nations Charter.
Principle 2: Recognize freedom of inquiry, opinion, and speech.
Principle 3: Provide educational opportunities for all regardless of gender, race, religion, or ethnicity.
Principle 4: Provide the opportunity for every individual to acquire the skills and knowledge necessary for higher education.
Principle 5: Develop competence in higher education systems around the world.
Principle 6: Raise people's awareness of their role as international citizens.
Principle 7: Promote peace and conflict resolution.
Principle 8: Address poverty
Principle 9: Promote sustainability.
Principle 10: Promote intercultural dialogue and mutual understanding, and eliminate intolerance.

Among the ten principles, Josai International University focuses particularly on Principles 4, 6, 9, and 10 as we strive to enhance and develop our educational and research activities, including our commitment to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
