United Nations Academic Impact International efforts

On November 15, 2019, Josai International University joined the United Nations Academic Impact (UNAI), which includes more than 1,400 institutions in more than 130 countries around the world. UNAI is a partnership between the United Nations and universities (institutions of higher education) around the world that sets out ten universal principles in the areas of "human rights, literacy, sustainability and conflict resolution". Activities to actively support these activities are required.

10 principles set by Academic Impact

Principle 1: Promote and realize the principles of the Charter of the United Nations
Principle 2: Allow freedom of inquiry, opinion and speech
Principle 3: Provide educational opportunities for all, regardless of gender, race, religion or ethnicity
Principle 4: Provide opportunities for all to acquire the skills and knowledge required for higher education
Principle 5: Build capacity in higher education systems around the world
Principle 6: Raise awareness of people as international citizens
Principle 7: Promote peace and conflict resolution
Principle 8: Addressing Poverty
Principle 9: Promote sustainability
Principle 10: Promote intercultural dialogue and mutual understanding and eliminate intolerance

Of the 10 principles, our university will work on Principles 4, 6, 9, and 10 in particular, and strive to develop and enhance educational and research activities, including efforts to achieve the SDGs.
