(1) Announcement of grades
A day in each semester is designated for the announcement of grades, when the results are released on the web. In some cases, advisors and instructors of seminars and practicum courses are asked to give the students their grade reports and provide guidance in person. The announcement of grades for supplementary and make-up examinations is conducted in the same way.
(2) Inquiries and problems regarding the grades
On the day of grade announcements, the respective faculty or administration office accepts inquiries regarding the announcements.
GPA stands for “Grade Point Average.” The purpose of introducing the GPA system is to conduct strict grade evaluation, to further enhance educational effects, to inspire students' learning motivation and to clarify learning objectives/study targets, and to standardize the grade evaluation criteria in accordance with evaluation criteria used outside the university in order to promote internationalization.
The Grade Point Average is calculated by giving grade points of 4, 3, 2,1 value to the evaluation of S, A, B,C and C respectively, multiplying the grade points by the number of credits per subject, and dividing that number by the total number of credits taken. By doing so the student's grade is evaluated on a scale different from credit acquisition. The GPA is stated on the grade report and the grade certificate. It is also displayed on the web when the grades are announced.
Calculation:
(number of credits with S grade)x4 + (credits with A)x3 + (credits with B)x2 + (credits with C)x1
total number of credits taken
There is a cancellation period for registered courses.
If a student does not apply for cancellation of their registration on a course within this period, the course will be evaluated. The cancellation period for intensive courses will be set after the schedule announcement of those courses.
