Shoya Kashiwai from Faculty of Media Studies Department of Media And Communications Film and Performing Arts Course (3rd year at the time of the award) and his team won the Silver Award at the 3rd TYO Student Movie Awards, a short film contest for students, for their work "Palm of the Hand.

This award is sponsored by TYO Co., Ltd. (Minato-ku, Tokyo), which handles TV commercials, etc., and is held for the purpose of discovering and nurturing the next generation of talent and contributing to the development of the entire video industry. Masu. This time, the third time, we asked for 60-second short films with the theme of "dancing", and many works in various genres such as stop motion animation and CG were submitted.
 

At the award ceremony held at the Akasaka Intercity Conference (Minato-ku, Tokyo) on March 2nd, Tetsuya Bessho, actor and representative of "Short Shorts Film Festival & Asia" acted as moderator, and the five final nominated films were selected. Among them, one gold prize, one silver prize, and three bronze prizes were announced. The venue was filled with thunderous applause when the award-winning works were announced, while the students who produced the five works, the judges, and the people involved in the video production company were all bustling with excitement.
 

Mr. Kashiwai planned and directed the silver award-winning film "Hands of the Hand", and produced it with five colleagues from Film and Performing Arts Course of Faculty of Media Studies. According to Mr. Kashiwai, "I thought that a man was making a girl dance, but in fact, I expressed two 'dances' that were made to dance with the palm of my hand. Planning took three to four weeks, and I was particular about casting." It's a masterpiece. The choreographer unit air:man, who served as a special judge, commented, "While there were many submissions that expressed the theme of 'dancing' straight through dance, there was one scene in the movie that included dance in the story. I got the impression that it was like this."
 

Kashiwai enrolled in Film and Performing Arts Course Faculty of Media Studies, Department of Department of Media And Communications with the aim of becoming a film producer, and in the winter of his second year he participated in a professional commercial shoot. During that time he keenly felt the difference in skill between students and professionals, and so he has been steadily gaining experience through independent productions. "One of my goals in the future is to become the best in Japan with a work that I produce. I want to become a commercial producer that companies choose," he said enthusiastically.
