Chiba The 70th Spring Chiba Prefectural Student Kendo Tournament was held at the Prefectural Sports Center (Chiba City Inage-ku) on June 3, and Sana Morikawa (Faculty of Social Work Studies Department of Physical Therapy freshman) of the women's kendo club won the women's individual tournament.

This tournament was held for the first time in three years, with over 100 athletes from 12 universities that are members of the Chiba Prefectural Student Kendo Federation. From our university, 9 students participated in the men's team competition, 8 students in the women's team competition, and 16 students in the individual competition. In the individual competition, there were a total of six matches until the finals, and Morikawa won the championship with a solid performance from the first match.

I am very happy that I was able to show the results of my daily practice and win the tournament," said Morikawa. "I will continue to practice hard so that I can win high rankings in the All-Japan Tournament as well," she said, aiming to qualify for the All-Japan Tournament at the Kanto Women's Kendo Student Championships in September.
