On August 30, Chiba Prefectural Police awarded a certificate of appreciation to students and faculty members of Faculty of Media Studies for producing a VR (virtual reality) video that appeals to the dangers of cannabis and cooperating in awareness-raising activities.

The VR video "Kasumi and Cannabis" is a 20-minute work depicting how Kasumi, the main character who has just entered university, misses the steps of life by using cannabis recommended by a friend who has a common hobby. is. Around September last year, the prefectural police requested the department to produce a production, and a total of 25 students from both the visual arts and new media courses were involved. From the script to the acting, filming, and editing, we worked on everything ourselves while receiving advice from our teachers.

On the same day, at the certificate presentation ceremony held at the Prefectural Police Headquarters (Chuo Ward, Chiba City), Chief Detective Yukio Matsui said, "The use of cannabis by young people is on the rise even in Chiba Prefecture, and how do we recognize its toxicity and dependence?" The issue was how to get them," explaining the background to the request to the university for the production of the video, and expressed his hopes, "I want many young people to see this video, which will lead to the prevention of cannabis use."

Cheng Yifan (4th year New Media Course, Faculty of Media Studies), who was the director of the video and received a letter of appreciation on behalf of the members, said, "Through the production of this video, I once again felt that cannabis is a familiar problem." , ``I also interviewed people who have used cannabis, but the words ``I wish I hadn't done it'' left a strong impression on me, so I used them in the dialogue.Through the video, there are many dangers of cannabis. I want people to know about it," he said.
