Chiba The "2024 Togane-Kujukuri-Nami-Namiuri Half Marathon" (sponsored by both cities and towns) was held on February 25, with 2,908 participants in the half marathon and pairs (3 km) divisions, running along the toll road spanning Togane City and Kujukuri-cho in the prefecture while enjoying a view of the Pacific Ocean. Three members of the University's Women's Ekiden Club participated, with Nanami Nagashima (Faculty of Social Work Studies Department of Social Work Studies, 1st year), Tomoka Kageyama (Faculty of Social Work Studies Department of Social Work Studies, 3rd year) and Reimi Nishina (Faculty of Social Work Studies Department of Physical Therapy, 1st year) winning first, second and third places, respectively, in the half marathon division.

The first ``Surf Riding Half Marathon'' was scheduled to be held in 2020, but due to the coronavirus pandemic, it was canceled and will be held for the first time in three years in 2023. This year was the second time the event was held. The half marathon section starts and ends at the Togane Arena athletics stadium and runs along the Togane Kujukuri Toll Road and the Kujukuri Toll Road along the Pacific Ocean.

Comment from Nanami Nagashima

I participated in this race as part of my practice, and it was a really fun race as I was able to run in a place with a nice view of the ocean, surrounded by lots of cheering. The pace was set until 20km, and the last part was free, so it felt good to switch it up and win. There were many runners I passed by who cheered me on, and I ran on toll roads that I wouldn't normally be able to run on, which was something I wouldn't normally experience in a race. I would like to participate again next year and experience the joy of running.

Comment from Tomoka Kageyama

This was my second time participating. Unfortunately, the weather was bad this year, but thanks to everyone who supported the race, we were able to enjoy the race. This time, as part of my practice, I had a set pace, but I think I was able to run well and connect well with the next run. There are many more races to come, so I want to do my best.

Comment from Reimi Nishina

The race took place in the cold and unstable weather, but thanks to the support of many people along the route, we were able to enjoy the race until the end despite the hardships. Although I was able to finish in 3rd place, there are still some areas where I am lacking in running ability, so I would like to apply what I learned from this race to the next race and do my best again. thank you very much.
