The 33rd Matriculation Ceremony for the 2024 academic year was held on April 2nd at Chiba Togane Campus. 1,417 new students, including 316 international students from 12 countries and regions, took their first steps into a new world with bright smiles on their faces.

University President Masato Kurabayashi, who took up his post in April, said in his opening remarks that the student life at JIU for the new students should be a "time" and "place" to build up strength for the future. As you learn to "study," you will surely meet many different people and face difficulties that are more difficult than you expected. Our senior students will surely help you. And we, the faculty and staff, will always be available to listen to your concerns, and will walk alongside you to help you overcome various difficulties and live a fulfilling student life with energy.

In his congratulatory speech, Chancellor Yozo Fujino stated that, when you look back on this time, you may remember it as a very limited and short period of time, but that this university life will be an extremely valuable time in which you can acquire the basic knowledge, skills, and attitude that you will need for your career.

Shohei Hayashi, a representative of the new students from the Department Department of Physical Therapy in the Department of Welfare and Social Welfare, said, ``It is a comprehensive university where you can learn a wide variety of things, and learning that can only be done at an international university, so I would like to take advantage of these characteristics and actively participate in a unique educational program.'' , I would like to expand my range of activities in the future.''

After the ceremony, students and families could be seen all over the campus, chatting with each other and taking commemorative photos. Recruitment activities were also carried out by clubs and circle organizations.
