The 93rd Emperor's Cup Japan Intercollegiate Track and Field Championships (All Japan Intercollegiate) was held for four days from September 19th to 22nd at Uvance Todoroki Stadium by Fujitsu (Kawasaki City, Kanagawa Prefecture), and Nana Nagashima (2nd year, Faculty of Social Work Studies, Department of Social Work Studies) from our university's women's relay team placed 8th in the women's 5000m. Her time was 16 minutes 16.49 seconds, a good result following her 3rd place in the 10,000m at the Kanto Intercollegiate Championships held in May.

Nagashima also placed 4th in the 10km division of the Sydney Marathon 2024 (Australia) on September 15, her first overseas race, and is expected to perform well in the Kanto University Women's Ekiden Relay scheduled for October 5.

This marks the first time in 16 years that our university has achieved a prize in the 5000m at the All-Japan Intercollegiate Championships.

Comment from Nagashima

Six days before this event, I participated in the 10km race at the Sydney Marathon, and I wasn't in good shape, so I was a little nervous about this race. The All Japan Intercollegiate Championships brought together some of the best athletes in the country, and winning a place there gave me confidence. With this momentum, the whole team will grab a ticket to the All Japan Championships at the Kanto University Women's Ekiden. Thank you for your continued support.
