Regional cooperation

2024.10.16

Our university's human resource development program has been selected for the Tokyo Metropolitan Government's "Tourism Management Human Resource Development Project in Collaboration with Universities." In response to this, we will be offering a "Course for Developing a Nighttime Tourism Certificate Program" at our Tokyo Kioicho Campus for three years from 2024 to 2026, with the theme of nighttime tourism, one of the major attractions of urban tourism, for people who live or work in Tokyo. In this course, we will invite a variety of practitioners to teach classes in order to improve the perspective of tourism management talent through learning about practical tourism management.

Tokyo Metropolitan Government is working with universities to implement support projects such as developing new educational programs for tourism-related business workers, with the aim of improving the management capabilities of tourism-related businesses and revitalizing the tourism industry. In 2019, our university was selected for the project for "Development of an educational program aimed at cultivating advanced tourism management talent with an eye toward collaboration with foreign talent," making this the second time it has been selected.

In the first year, in addition to faculty from Faculty of Management and Information Sciences, five courses will be offered, including invited lecturers from outside the university who are experts on nighttime tourism and people with practical experience in corporate management: 1) Tourism Corporate Management, 2) Tourism Marketing, 3) Nighttime Tourism Data Science, 4) Nighttime Tourism Policy, and 5) Problem-Solving Fieldwork. The courses will be held at the easily accessible Tokyo Kioicho Campus, and aim to develop the next generation of tourism management talent who will be responsible for promoting nighttime tourism in the city. Furthermore, from next year onwards, faculty from Faculty of Tourism with a wide range of practical experience will also join, and more multifaceted and specialized courses will be developed.
