Nami Matsuki (left: 2000 graduate of Faculty of Management and Information Sciences) and Kanan Matsuki (1st year student Faculty of Nursing) are mother and daughter, and also senior and junior at Josai International University. We will introduce heartwarming episodes from conversations between mother and daughter, from their student life at Chiba Togane Campus back then to now, while looking at Nami's yearbook.
Nami:My best memory is meeting such close friends that I still see them once every few months. I remember like it was yesterday taking classes with my friends, hanging out, and enjoying Campus Life. Taking classes in classroom B105 is especially memorable. After graduating from university, there were times when we couldn't meet due to marriage, childbirth, and the COVID-19 pandemic, but we kept in contact with each other. Many of my friends live in Chiba Prefecture or nearby, so now we sometimes go on trips together, including our children.
Kanan:I really admire the relationship my mother has with her friends. When I was living alone and got sick, my mother's friends would bring me snacks and support me like family, and I'm very grateful for that.
Kanan:When I was in my second year of high school, my mother asked me about the university I attended, and I did some research. I was very interested in languages, overseas studies, and the qualifications for "midwife" and "public health nurse" in addition to "nurse," so I wanted to go to Josai International University, which offers a wide range of overseas training and double license acquisition programs. When I attended the open campus, I felt that the atmosphere there suited me. Also, my mother's friends lived around Togane City, and with advice from my mother, who knew the area, I had no worries about living alone.
Nami:When I was in school, there was no Faculty of Nursing yet, but the school was well-established, and they explained things like the pass rate for the national exam at the open campus, so I didn't have any worries. Also, a friend of mine who knows my daughter well lives nearby, so I could ask her if anything happened.

Nami:When I visited my alma mater for the first time in a long time for my daughter's open campus, I was surprised to see that the number of buildings had increased. Also, at that time, attendance was recorded with a paper attendance card, and reports were submitted on paper or floppy disk. I remember well that we checked the information on class cancellations on the bulletin board on campus.
Kanan:Some teachers still use attendance cards, and we know each other's buildings and classrooms, so we can have fun talking about the same things as my mother. This was the first time I'd heard about floppy disks. Now, I can submit reports and check class cancellation information on the Portal site, so I'm a little surprised at the difference.
The Matsuki family is very close
Kanan:I participated in the training in India in September 2024. I am glad that I was able to participate because it is a country that I rarely visit on a trip. When I visited a hospital in India, I was able to feel the difference with Japan and how lucky Japan is. In the future, I would like to study hard and become a wonderful nurse with the aim of obtaining a double license.
Nami:He has promised to obtain a double license when he goes on to university, so we would like to support him as much as we can.
