Kiuchi Rui (left: second-year student Department of Physical Therapy Faculty of Social Work Studies) and Kiuchi Koa (first-year student Faculty of Nursing Department of Nursing) are siblings and are studying at Josai International University.
They talked about what motivated them to pursue careers in health, medical care, and welfare, as well as their future goals and their relationship.
Rui:I grew up with four siblings, and because of my older brother's influence, I played baseball from a young age. When I injured my elbow, I was treated by a physical therapist during rehabilitation, and based on my own experience, I decided to become a physical therapist.
Koa:My mother is a nurse, so I had heard a lot about the job and felt a sense of familiarity and admiration for it. When a friend of mine got into trouble in elementary school, I was able to act quickly to help him, and my older brother is also aiming to work in the health care and welfare field, so I decided to become a nurse as well.
The Kiuchi siblings share an anecdote about their relationship
Rui:Since we went to the same school from elementary school to high school, I didn't have any particular reservations. I even thought we might go to the same university. We would sometimes meet on campus in high school, but now we're in different departments and buildings, so we haven't run into each other on campus yet.
Koa:When I was going to college, I attended open campuses of other universities. I chose Josai International University because it had more beds in the training rooms than other universities, had the hospital I wanted for practical training, and had a good overseas training program. I also felt secure that if I had any trouble, I could 'have an older brother at the same university.
Koa:My brother (Rui) and I are the closest in age to each other out of the four of us, so we often talk to each other at home as if we were friends. We often talk about our favorite music and clothes, so we sometimes go shopping together.
Rui:I think my younger sister is more mature than I am. I often tell her about things that happened at university at home.

Koa:I just enrolled, so I want to try to get used to the change in environment. I also want to study hard for the S1 test. I want to enjoy the upcoming training in India and the measurements for my training uniform, and make the most of my university life. In the future, I want to be involved in community medical care as a nurse.
Rui:When I was a first-year student, I thought I had three years left of university life, but before I knew it, I was in my second year, and a sense of responsibility began to grow as younger students joined the class. Since class evaluations will be involved in my internship and job hunting, I want to tighten my resolve and work hard at my studies.
