Sports physical therapy practice
2024.11.26
This department attracts many students with an interest in sports physical therapy, and we develop a number of practical sports activities to support their aspirations.
This time, we asked Dr. Takuma Uesugi (physiotherapist), a member of the Chiba Lotte Marines performance group, to give a lecture to students. Dr. Uesugi continues to work mainly at an orthopedic clinic, and will begin his career in the Japanese professional baseball world in 2024.
In the first half, he talked about "the importance of gathering information, meeting new people, and taking action to achieve your dreams." He also told us about the schedule and how to move around in the professional baseball world, and spoke specifically about how to think up a return program based on injuries that have occurred to actual players.
In the second half, the professor explained to the students about the training he provides to actual professional athletes, demonstrating his skills. Each student was spoken to individually, and the students were able to ask the professor many questions, making for a very meaningful experience.
After the lecture, many students shared very positive feedback, such as, "After listening to the professional trainer's actual experiences, I realized I need to study harder."
We will continue to work to connect this to practical sports physical therapy activities, which is one of the strengths of our department.
We would like to thank Professor Uesugi and all Chiba Lotte Marines staff for visiting our university despite their busy schedules.
