message

Since my student days, I have visited many hot springs in Japan and abroad to conduct regional Research. What has particularly impressed me is the fact that many "Onsenji Temples" and "Onsen Shrines" dedicated to Yakushi Nyorai have been built in hot springs in Japan. While carefully protecting hot springs, a resource given by heaven, we should be grateful for the benefits we have received from them both physically and mentally, and we should be grateful to hot springs as "springs of blessings." This is the starting point for students of tourism to learn hospitality. "If you study and do not think, you will be able to live a fulfilling life; if you think and do not learn, you will be in danger." This is the attitude of learning taught to us by Confucius, the founder of Confucianism. I would like to share this with you here. If you study but do not think, you will not be able to understand the essence of things. If you only think and do not learn, you will be self-righteous and dangerous. In these turbulent and challenging times, it is important to approach the study of tourism from both theoretical and practical perspectives. Over the next four years, I hope you will acquire the learning, thinking and action skills to grasp the ever-changing needs of society and solve problems.
