international education Features of the department

Some medicines sold in Japan require international standards for pharmaceutical management and regulation, and having an international perspective, such as communication with foreign patients and cultural and religious restrictions on the use of medicines (e.g. halal medicines, use of herbal medicines), will be an advantage in both domestic and overseas operations.
At our school, faculty members who hold foreign pharmacist licenses teach students about pharmaceutical education, medical systems, and the roles of pharmacists in different countries and regions, and we provide an education to nurture pharmacists with an international perspective.

Language Education
The first step to a successful study abroad is to have a TOEIC score of 400 or more for the short-term pharmacy study abroad program (UCR US Pharmacy Training Program), and a TOEIC score of 600-730 for the exchange program conducted in the 5th and 6th years. Our university provides opportunities to take group TOEIC tests on campus four times a year. This allows students to objectively grasp the progress of their English ability and prepare for studying abroad. In addition, English Cafés are held regularly on campus, where students can enjoy learning English through everyday conversation, board games, meals, and more with native teachers.

Exchange Student Program
We offer a 1-6 month exchange program for 5th and 6th year students. Starting in 2015, we are currently conducting an exchange program with Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences at Chulalongkorn University (Thailand). By interacting with pharmacy students of the same age and conducting graduation Research, students can share information and improve their knowledge, maintain and improve their motivation, build networks, and acquire diversity of values and ways of thinking. International exchange is also a valuable opportunity to expand learning opportunities and career options, thereby enhancing future possibilities. Please note that by using this program, you will not exceed your graduation year.

Short-term study abroad in pharmacy
Starting from the 2021 academic year, students will be taking part in a short-term study abroad program in pharmacy at the University of Alberta (Canada), an overseas academic partner institution. Every year from late February, students will visit universities and specialized pharmacies for about two weeks, researching and considering the work and social role of Canadian pharmacists, and using this to build their vision for the future.
