Students hosting a radio program
"Late Night Diner" was produced by students from Josai International University Faculty of Media Studies and aired on FM Setagaya on August 2nd. As part of the show's project, the students pooled their ideas and developed an "original taiyaki" that went on sale.
FM Setagaya is the ninth community FM station in Tokyo (106th nationwide) and began broadcasting in July 1998.
The radio program production class began in April. When deciding on the theme, one student said, "I'd like to develop a new product for a food-themed program! It would be ideal if we could sell the food that originated on the program!" As they considered whether there were any stores that would cooperate, Okumanya, a store the students often visit, came to mind. They immediately consulted with the store, and they readily agreed, making this project a reality.
Okumanya, a taiyaki specialty store in Akasaka, sells around 10 different types of taiyaki in its store, and this time we have been given the opportunity to be involved in developing a new product that changes every month.

The finished taiyaki
They started planning Menu after the Golden Week holidays in May, and after making numerous prototypes based on some of the students' suggestions, the owner finally created the "Acai Taiyaki" using a refreshing custard made from egg whites.
The filling is made with acai, which is popular among young people for its health and nutritional value, and also includes cranberries, bananas, and nuts, allowing you to enjoy a variety of flavors and textures.
Egg whites are an ingredient that would normally be thrown away, so they have created a taiyaki that is not only delicious but also kind to the earth. Sales began on August 1st, priced at 380 yen, with a limit of 20 per day, and will be available until the end of this month. Okumanya is a 2-minute walk from Akasaka Station on the Chiyoda Subway Line. Please check Instagram or Google Maps for opening days and hours.
