What made you choose this graduate program at JIU?

I was attracted to the “All English Course” program. What I particularly appreciate about JIU is the possibility of combining English and Japanese in my classes. This is ideal for someone who wants to improve their languages skills. I have been able to choose Japanese for some classes and English for more technical ones. This flexibility has allowed me to improve my Japanese while ensuring that I can fully understand the content of more specialized courses.
Also, the geographical location of the Kioicho Campus is very convenient. For someone interested in international administration, it is the perfect place to study, in the middle of Japan’s political and economic center.

What has been the most memorable part of your classes, seminars, research activities, or graduate school experience at JIU, and why?

For me, the most memorable part of my time at JIU has been getting close to finishing my thesis. At the beginning, the work is still very theoretical. We do not exactly know where we are going. But at some point we move into concrete research, helped by our professors, and it is very satisfying to see the first results and watch the thesis take shape. I attended Professor Komatsu’s seminar. He helped me to understand the rigor of academic research. I found it very interesting to discover the process of ensuring reliable results and how academic research seeks to establish the truth through rigorous methods.

A Message to Prospective Students

I encourage prospective students to use their time at GSIA not only to prepare for their careers but also to explore the different topics offered in the curriculum in order to broaden their knowledge and develop a deeper understanding of the world around them.

Selected as the graduating class representative and delivered the valedictory address at the graduation ceremony on August 31, 2026.
