Le Thanh Thong
Vietnam
Class of September 2021
First, I chose to study graduate school with the aim of improving my salary after graduation. After graduating from university in Vietnam, I started looking for a job, and to be honest, the salary I received was not what I wanted. I began to find out why my friends around me could find opportunities so much better than me and I realized it was my lack of self-confidence. After that, I decided to look for opportunities to study abroad in the hope of broadening my knowledge and finding confidence in myself. This is why I decided to go to graduate school.
I chose GSIA because it has a discount on tuition fees for foreign students and it really made a big impact on me. Unlike China or Korea, the Vietnamese currency is actually a lot weaker than that of Japan, so this tuition subsidy means a lot to me and I think to most Vietnamese students here.
What I love most about GSIA is the dedication of the professors. I have to say that the professors at GSIA are super-super nice. I remember I spent my four years in university in Vietnam and there are only a few lecturers in the school who gave me this kind of admiration. If someone asked me if she or he should study at GSIA, I would 100% say yes because I don't think there are many opportunities to meet professors like ours.
Now, my topic research is "Internet of thing (IoT) ecosystem and its impact on global container transportation.” After graduating, I plan to find a job opportunity in Singapore or Thailand and work there for two to five years. I believe, with the amount of knowledge I will obtain during my time studying at GSIA, along with my experiences which I can gain while working in an international environment, will give me a huge opportunity when I return to Vietnam.
Be open to professors at GSIA, and you will receive greater opportunities like you have never expected.
