横浜の観光まちづくりを学ぶ

 

 

2026年7月28日にティティレイ特任教授が担当しているホスピタリティマネジメントの学外授業を実施し、国際アドミニストレーション研究科の大学院生５名が神奈川県横浜市にあるOMO7（おもせぶん）横浜と赤レンガ倉庫を見学しました。

OMO７横浜は名建築家「村野藤吾」氏が手掛けた、旧横浜市庁舎を星野リゾートが再解釈して継承し、ホテルとして２０２６年４月にオープンしたばかりの話題のスポットです。旧市庁舎の形と内装を残しながらも現代風にアレンジして宿泊者や地域住民に親しまれる場所に生まれ変わっています。また、赤レンガ倉庫も旧横浜市庁舎と同様に約１２０年前の倉庫を改装して現代の若者向け商業施設として生まれ変わっています。

今回、歴史のある横浜の観光スポットを見学し、歴史的な建物や施設をいかに魅力的な観光資源として再生したのか、観光マネジメントの考え方を実践的に学ぶ機会となりました。

On July 28, 2026, five graduate students enrolled in the Hospitality Management Seminar taught by Professor Thithi Lay visited OMO7 Yokohama and the Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse as part of an off-campus field study.

OMO7 Yokohama is a newly opened hotel that began welcoming guests in April 2026. It is a notable project in which Hoshino Resorts has reinterpreted and preserved the former Yokohama City Hall, originally designed by the renowned Japanese architect Togo Murano. While retaining the building's historic exterior and many of its interior features, renovated with modern elements, creating a welcoming space for both hotel guests and residents.

Similarly, the Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse has been transformed from a historic warehouse built 119 years ago into a vibrant commercial and cultural complex that attracts many young visitors while preserving its historical significance.

Through this field study at two of Yokohama's most iconic historical landmarks, the students gained valuable insights into hospitality management in the tourism industry. The knowledge and observations obtained from this experience will serve as important references for future seminar discussions and academic studies.
