インドネシア・UNIDA Gontor大学学長一行来学

 

 

 

2025年10月20日、インドネシアのUNIDA Gontor大学（Universitas Darussalam Gontor）の学長一行が、本学との学術交流協定締結のため城西国際大学を訪問しました。
UNIDA Gontor大学との交流は、杉林堅次前学長が城西大学において博士号取得を指導していた学生のご縁をきっかけに始まりました。その学生のご家族が本学への交換留学に関心を寄せてくださったことを契機として、今回の学術交流協定の締結に至りました。
当日は、倉林眞砂斗学長、市山マリアしげみ国際連携推進機構副機構長・国際人文学部長、ティモシー・ウルフステンクラフト教授（Professor Timothy Woolstencroft）が出席し、今後の学生交流や教育連携について意見交換を行いました。2026年4月からの留学を予定している学生は国際人文学部での学びを希望しており、一行は教育内容や留学環境について確認を行いました。

その後、ウルフステンクラフト教授の案内によりキャンパスツアーが行われました。一行は整備されたキャンパス環境を視察するとともに、宗教的な祈りのための施設が整備されていることにも大きな安心感を示していました。

UNIDA Gontor大学（Universitas Darussalam Gontor）は、インドネシア・東ジャワ州に本部を置く私立大学で、イスラーム教育の伝統を基盤としながら国際的な教育と研究を推進している大学です。母体であるゴントール・イスラーム寄宿学校（Gontor Islamic Boarding School）はインドネシア有数の教育機関として知られており、国内外から多くの学生が学んでいます。

On October 20, 2025, a delegation led by the Rector of UNIDA Gontor University (Universitas Darussalam Gontor), Indonesia, visited Josai International University to sign an academic exchange agreement between the two universities.The relationship with UNIDA Gontor University developed through a connection with a former doctoral student who had studied under former President Kenji Sugibayashi at Josai University. When the student’s family expressed interest in sending a daughter to Josai International University as an exchange student, discussions began that eventually led to the signing of this academic exchange agreement.President Masato Kurabayashi, Professor Maria Shiguemi Ichiyama (Vice Director of the International Cooperation Promotion Organization and Dean of the Faculty of International Humanities), and Professor Timothy Woolstencroft joined the meeting and discussed future student exchange and educational collaboration. The visiting delegation also confirmed details of the academic program and study environment, as a student from UNIDA Gontor is expected to begin studying at the Faculty of International Humanities in April 2026.Following the meeting, Professor Woolstencroft guided the delegation on a campus tour. The visitors viewed the campus facilities and expressed appreciation for the well-maintained environment, noting with particular interest that spaces for religious prayer were available.UNIDA Gontor University (Universitas Darussalam Gontor), located in East Java, Indonesia, is a private university that promotes international education and research while building on the tradition of Islamic education. It is closely connected with the Gontor Islamic Boarding School, one of the most well-known Islamic educational institutions in Indonesia, which attracts students from across the country and abroad.
