Daniela Ryugo Sensei

From the Dean's Office

Daniela Ryugo, adjunct faculty of the Center for Language Education, recently received an award from the Czech government in recognition of her contributions to the teaching of the Czech language and culture in Japan. After arriving in Japan 30 years ago, she initially taught at a language school and at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Following this, she also started teaching at Tokyo University of Foreign Studies, and joined us at Josai International University when we started offering courses in Czech, Polish and Hungarian languages nine years ago. Since then, students from the Department of International Exchange Studies have had the opportunity to do their long-term study abroad programs at Prague University of Economics and Business in Prague and at Masaryk University in Brno. We are very grateful to Ryugo-sensei for her continued contribution to our education programs and her efforts in helping introduce the languages and culture of the Central European countries to our students. We are especially pleased with this well-deserved recognition by her home country as the Czech language is taught at only two universities in Japan. I certainly hope that more students will take advantage of this opportunity to learn from her at the Togane Campus. Congratulations, Sensei, and many thanks for your dedication to our students.
