Long-term program abroad online

From the Dean's Office

フジオカ ルイジ イサオ君

A large number of students have chosen to complete their study-abroad programs online. Their first choice was certainly to fly to the country of their choice, live in a dormitory or with a local host family, but, unfortunately, with the pandemic this was not possible and some of them opted for the online program.

Luiggi Issao Fujioka is one of these students, and he started his semester-long program at Petra Christian University in Indonesia on August 9. He joined their English Department and is now taking courses such as Public Speaking; Intercultural Communication; Marketing Communication; and Language, Branding and Contemporary Marketing from Monday to Friday.

According to him, “the level of English of all students is quite high and the focus on the classes is to help students develop their critical thinking skills. The faculty members are very supportive and my classmates also check on me to make sure I am doing okay. Thanks to them, my level of motivation keeps going up.” The classes in Indonesia start at 7:30, but because of the time difference, Fujioka-san starts his first class at 9:30. That’s the exact time our first period starts here at JIU.

He joined the J-Tokutai program in the Faculty of International Humanities and I’m very glad he chose to have this wonderful experience with Indonesian classmates. We have students who are starting their online programs in other countries such as Korea, China and Canada soon. I will keep you posted.
