重松徹朗作・出演のソロ作品「Empire of the Son」の公演に、CLE会員をご招待します。

この作品は、2世代にわたる放送局の物語であり、2人の間の無線の沈黙を描いたものである。親子である重松明と重松徹朗は、ラジオの公共放送という同じ職業に就いていた。それぞれが何百万人ものリスナーとのコミュニケーションに喜びを感じていたが、互いに言葉を交わすことはなかった。アキラが老齢で健康を害し始めたとき、テツローは2人が理解できる唯一のもの、マイクで2人の橋渡しをする。

この作品は、ラジオ司会者である親子の物語であり、父と子の間に存在する沈黙を描いたものである。重松明と重松徹朗は、ラジオの公共番組の司会者という同じ職業に就いていた。それぞれが何百万人ものリスナーとのコミュニケーションに喜びを感じていたが、互いに言葉を交わすことはなかった。アキラが老齢で健康を害し始めたとき、テツローは2人が理解できる唯一のもの、マイクで2人の橋渡しをする。

"Empire of the Son" at Mizuta Hall on July 24

All CLE members are invited to a performance of ‘Empire of the Son’ a solo work written and performed by Tetsuro Shigematsu. 

It is the story of two generations of broadcasters, and the radio silence between them. As father and son, Akira and Tetsuro Shigematsu shared the same profession as public radio broadcasters. Each of them reveled in communicating with millions of their listeners, but they never spoke with each other. When Akira’s health begins to falter in his old age, Tetsuro bridges the gap between them with the only object they both understood: a microphone. 

The performance lasts 90 minutes, and is in English.
